  • Tiktaalik isn't just proof of evolution; it's proof that the scientific process works. Evolutionary theory predicted that this fish existed and that its remains would be found within geological layers of a specific age. Hence, Shubin's trips to Canada, where those rock layers are found. "We designed this expedition with the goal of finding this exact fossil," explains Shubin. "We used evolution and geology as tools to make a prediction about where to look. And the prediction was confirmed."
  • Fossils from Northern Kenya show that a new species of human lived two million years ago, researchers say.  Anthropologists have discovered three human fossils that are between 1.78 and 1.95 million years old. The specimens are of a face and two jawbones with teeth.
